We are seeking a Medical Imaging Field Service Engineer II in the Denver/Boulder area. Under the general supervision of the Medical Imaging Field Service Engineer II will repair, calibrate, and maintain Philips medical diagnostic equipment and associated systems.

Responds to service calls to perform repair/preventative maintenance on medical imaging equipment, while ensuring a safe operation and effective performance of medical equipment by conducting approved programs for quality control and assurance. Maintain operation knowledge of medical imaging devices, measuring devices, and knowledge of manufacturer's repair manuals, troubleshooting techniques, and preventive-maintenance schedules. Documents repair action and submit reports/paperwork in a timely manner.  Ensure proper care of tools and other related and assigned equipment, and share on-call responsibilities. Demonstrate and explain correct operation of equipment to medical personnel. Independently prioritize work and make decisions with low financial, safety, and liability risk. Be able to balance priorities among multiple assigned tasks and duties while working in multiple geographic locations within your area of responsibility. Follow department policies, procedures, managerial guidance and good judgment in decision making process. Individual performance directly impacts the financial liability for medical equipment assets, parts replacement, outside service and budget pertaining to the operation of the department.

Major Accountabilities:


Analyzes and corrects malfunctions on a variety of medical imaging equipment systems. Analysis and corrective methods include; observation of front panel and controls; interpretation of block and schematic diagrams; utilization of appropriate test equipment; replacement of components, PC boards, or subsystems as appropriate; calibration and adjustment to manufacturers specifications; working with clinical personnel to correct operator based problems; documentation of work performed including that provided by outside service.


Directly performs or schedules with outside service vendors the performance assessment and preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment according to established procedures: inspects, calibrates, adjusts, lubricates and repairs or replaces components. Documents work performed.


Performs inspection and certification of performance of new equipment / systems, coordinates assembly / installation. Prepares and recommends maintenance and test specifications for each electrical and electronic devices and defines inspection and calibration cycles.   Performs electrical safety inspections and performance assurance testing. Completes documentation for entry into the computerized maintenance management system.


 Advises on specifications for purchases on new equipment and recommends replacement of obsolete or irreparable equipment. Provides new product evaluation as requested.


Ensures compliance with medical equipment hazards alerts, advises affected clinical personnel of hazard alerts, takes appropriate corrective action, and documents.


Performs investigative evaluation of medical equipment involved in patient and employee incidents / accidents. Documents findings and reports as required.


 Assists, as required, with staff in-service education.


Education Develops and implements a plan for professional growth. Maintains current with advancing technology, as required, to perform duties.


Performs miscellaneous duties as directed in support of the need of the organization.



Preferred Qualifications:

    • Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (including equipment operation):
    • Certified Radiology Equipment Service (CRES)
    • Knowledge and skill using Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
    • Computer networking certification

Preferred Experience:

  • Background servicing medical imaging equipment with emphasis on multi manufacturer experience and years of service
  • Experience servicing computer client-server systems

Minimum Qualifications:


  • AAS degree in Biomedical Equipment Service Technology, Electronic Service Technology, or Computer Service Technology from an accredited program or military Biomedical Equipment training.
  • Proficient in the use of testing instruments, devices, simulators, and tools associated with servicing medical x-ray equipment.
  • Ability to analyze, trouble shoot and resolve equipment repairs. 
  • Knowledge of medical imaging equipment preventive and corrective maintenance standards.
  • Mathematical ability, attention to detail (e.g. organization, prioritization, proofing), concentration, and alertness.
  • Reading, writing, and fluently speaking and, understanding English.

Minimum Required Experience:

  • 4 years' experience in servicing basic imaging devices (e.g. portable radiographic unit, portable c-arm, general radiographic and radiographic/fluoroscopic systems, and diagnostic imaging ultrasound systems.
  • Background servicing and repairing mechanical, electrical, electronic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in the following areas: customer service, interpersonal relations, adaptability, change management, decision making, oral communication, problem solving, project management, quality management, results orientation, teamwork, and written communication.
  • Driver's License
