Position Summary

 Provide onsite leadership and hands on support for all components of the program. Oversee the day-to-day performance and activities of departmental staff. Act as technical resource to department staff for the proper and efficient cleaning/disinfecting of selected medical equipment. Act as Program Liaison to all facility personnel within areas serviced by the program. Responsible for the assurance of program quality via frequent customer contact.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Must be able to perform the job description-daily responsibility tasks of the equipment technician.
  • Use knowledge of customer program contract to ensure obligations are met.

  • Adherence to departmental work schedules for all department staff.
  • Train/instruct/support department personnel in technical specifications of job duties.
  • Ensure all resources are available to staff technicians as needed to allow for the proper cleaning/disinfecting of medical equipment as required. Review MSDS sheets and use of PPE for safety.
  • Provide training to technicians on the cleaning/disinfection of medical equipment as appropriate and comply with facility Infection Control Policies and Procedures.
  • Required to support departmental technicians on cleaning/disinfection of medical equipment.
  • Work with Program Manager in deployment of department rounding schedules and frequencies.
  • Proficiency in use of software and bar coding systems, and keeping accurate electronic records. Train departmental staff in system use.
  • Establish working relationship with facility Clinical Engineering Department.
  • Establish and maintain good customer satisfaction, good personal relationships with departmental management personnel in addition to program personnel.
  • Evaluate staff productivity, program quality and delivery of service to customer.
  • Generate reports as required by program guidelines; manage report distribution guidelines and timeliness of distribution.  Responsible for report content accuracy.
  • Responsible for chairing periodic meetings with facility personnel and program management team related to program review.
  • Responsible for deployment of escalation protocols and ability to execute and perform in high demand healthcare facility.
  • Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with the facilities ethical business practice.
  • Leave work are clean and clear of soiled equipment.  If necessary to leave assets for following shift, follow the appropriate departmental protocols.
  • Report to work on-time and as scheduled, follow policy for scheduling time off, reporting sick or absent time with supervisor. Participate in flextime/shift scheduling as needed.
  • Wear proper identification while on duty.
  • Observe the facilities dress code at all times, and have good personal hygiene.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly appearance of all work areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.      

Basic Job Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited high school.
  • Able to work with cleaning and disinfecting chemicals.
  • Able to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • Non-smoking environment - must be able to complete a tobacco screening test.
  • Must be able to pass drug screening test.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Mandatory Flu Vaccination Required.
  • Must be able to flex hours upon facility demands.
  • Immunization records must be current.

 Preferred Job Qualifications

  • Experience in a Customer Service environment, resulting in knowledge of how to resolve customer issues..
  • Knowledge of medical equipment.
  • Experience working within a hospital or healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of cleaning and/or disinfecting of medical equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • Demonstrate motor coordination and manual dexterity with hands, eyes, and fingers in the performance of the daily duties.
  • Demonstrate physical ability for prolonged standing, walking, crouching, kneeling, reaching, frequent bending, and climbing stairs.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge of safe lifting techniques and the ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
  • Maintain 20/40 vision accuracy, both near & far vision, good hearing, color discrimination and depth perception
  • Push/Pull carts with medical equipment from various areas within a medical facility, weighing up to 50 lbs.

 Training Requirement

  • Willing to participate in on-site training programs as assigned.
  • Obtain and maintain a complete knowledge of state and federal healthcare regulation and standards, JCAHO/DNV regulations.
  • Successfully complete annual education requirements, facility in-service training (fire, safety, emergency procedure, infection control, etc.) and keep up-to-date on sterilization/cleaning techniques.
